ANIMAL NEWS - Orangutan learns to swim
In animal news, Suryia the orangutan discovers the joys of swimming. When staff at the Myrtle Beach Safari Park in South Carolina, USA realized that seven-year-old Suryia seemed to enjoy splashing around in the water, Moksha Bybee, his caregiver, helped him to learn to swim. After about three weeks of practice, Suryia became an accomplished swimmer, which is unusual for orangutans, who usually stay away from the water. Ms. Bybee said, "Suryia's learning curve has been incredible." Suriya loves diving into the water with Ms. Bybee, and can swim more than 6 meters (20 feet) on his own. Bravo, Suryia, on your new found skill. Wishing you and your lovely companion, Ms. Moksha Bybee, many hours of aquatic delight.
